Staff Report

Tuesday, May 25th, 2021

The Golden Eagle Luncheon, hosted by the Chattahoochee Council, Boy Scouts of America, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at the Bibb Mill Event Center in Columbus, GA. The program will feature some of the local Eagle Scouts from 2020 and a panel of female community leaders.

As part of the program on June 22nd, there will be a panel of female community leaders from Columbus, which include Barbara Gauthier, Anchor at WTVM, Gwen Ruff, Senior Vice President at Columbus Water Works, and Janet Davis, President/CEO Emeritus of Kinetic Credit Union. This panel of powerful women will be interviewed by some of our local Female Eagle Scouts that form part of the National Boy Scouts Inaugural Female Eagle Scout Class.

“Scouting has been part of our local community for over 110 years, our Scouts and volunteers persevered through COVID-19 to ensure that Scouting continued. Our program will recognize the hard work from these individuals as we celebrate our Eagle Scout class of 2020” says Juan F. Osorio, Chattahoochee Council’s Scout Executive/CEO. “We are also excited to hear from our panel of woman leaders on what they did to overcome adversity as they became leaders in our community and what advice they can give our female Scouts”, added Osorio.

The event is free for the community to attend; however, an ask for a donation will be made during the program. For information on the event and to register to attend, please visit www.91BSA.org/GoldenEagle, contact the Chattahoochee Council at (706) 327-2634, or email Juan F. Osorio at [email protected].

The Golden Eagle Luncheon will be held this year to recognize the resilience and determination of our local Scouts who earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2020 – during a global pandemic. These Scouts personify the Scout Oath and Law in their everyday lives and truly live by the Scout motto “Be Prepared”. They inspire us and demonstrate that our community and nation have a bright future. Funds raised from the Golden Eagle Luncheon will support on-going Scouting programs that provide experiences to enhance the lives of young people throughout the Chattahoochee Valley. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to directly to provide Scouting opportunities to at-risk youth in our communities.
