Columbus LPN Wins Piedmont’s Top Employee-Recognition Award

Monday, May 3rd, 2021

Piedmont Healthcare announced its recipient of the President’s Award for its employee recognition program, Promise 360. Melanie Voiles, an LPN at the Piedmont Columbus Regional Family Medicine Center, was presented with the top honor for the entire Piedmont system by Piedmont Healthcare President and CEO Kevin Brown.

Voiles is recognized for her quick actions and compassionate care when she saw a car accident on her way to work one morning. She didn’t see an emergency vehicle on-scene at the time. With the help of two other bystanders she attended to the unresponsive driver as well as a toddler in the backseat. Voiles performed CPR on the unresponsive driver until EMS arrived. Once EMS took over, she stayed on-scene to comfort the toddler while the driver was being assessed for injuries.

“We are about service above ourselves and we put the patient at the center of everything we do,” said Scott Hill, CEO of Piedmont Columbus Regional. “The Promise 360 award winners are those who exemplify the very best that Piedmont stands for in our community.”

The Promise 360 award is an important way in which Piedmont Healthcare celebrates its employees’ service and efforts as they strive to live Piedmont’s promise of making a positive difference in every life they touch. Employees are nominated by coworkers, visitors, patients, or patient’s family members. To nominate a deserving employee or learn more about the program, visit Piedmont.org/Promise360.

Each month, Piedmont Columbus Regional names two champion winners and three spotlight award winners. From those monthly champion winners, an overall champion is selected annually. That winner attends the President’s Award ceremony, which is attended by the organization’s top executives, including Piedmont Healthcare President and CEO Kevin Brown. One employee from the entire Piedmont Healthcare system receives the annual President’s Award. All the winners demonstrate Piedmont’s values— championing patient centered care, exemplifying teamwork and connections, being an owner, and embracing the future.
