The Columbus Museum was awarded two grants by Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, as part of its initial disbursement of grants for fiscal year 2022.

With the funds awarded through the Arts Education Program Grant, The Columbus Museum will continue their interdisciplinary School Tour programs that expand access to arts learning for K-12 students during the school year. Through the Bridge grant, they will be able to cover the costs of essential operations that enable them to provide quality educational and cultural services, bringing American art and history to life for the communities that they serve.

“This grant is so important to The Columbus Museum because it helps us provide free field trips to students from Muscogee County and the surrounding areas,” said the Director of Education and Engagement for The Columbus Museum, Lucy Kacir. “The grant helps pay our gallery teacher and provides art supplies for studio activities so we can extend the gallery experience with hands-on art making experiences.”

Funds awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts include appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
