Local District Finds Support for Teacher Shortages

Wednesday, September 8th, 2021

Proximity Learning Inc. (PLI), an education services company focused on livestreaming certified teachers in pursuit of greater educational equity, announced continued work with Muscogee County School District (MCSD). In the 2021-22 school year, Proximity Learning is providing the district with trained virtual teachers via livestream into physical classrooms and supplying high-quality virtual educators to students who are home, hospital bound.

To fill the highest rate of teacher vacancies since 2015, Proximity Learning guarantees certified, trained, virtual teachers through the organization's HR Backup Plan. Operating since 2009, Proximity Learning developed the Enriched Live Instruction Model (ELIM) to ensure quality virtual education, training teachers not just to teach, but to truly make an impact through expert use of digital techniques and tools.

“Our continued partnership with Proximity Learning comes after a year filled with uncertainty,” says Dr. David F. Lewis, Superintendent of MCSD. “We had two major needs to fill for the 2021-22 school year. We had to find certified educators to fill our vacancies for students returning for in-person learning and ensure the health and safety of our high-risk students. With support from Proximity, we can feel confident that all our students will remain safe and have access to reputable instruction from wherever they need it.”

Proximity Learning will provide K-12 core curriculum and world language teachers to the district for students returning to school in person and students with high-risk health concerns who cannot attend in-person classes safely.

“Proximity Learning is grateful for the opportunity to make an impact on the students of Muscogee,” said Jim Frenchak, Director of School Partnerships for Proximity Learning. “I have worked with the district since 2018 and have never seen such a need for quality educators. Muscogee county’s decision to pursue virtual education with Proximity Learning ensures that each and every student in the district will be connected to a certified teacher who will set them up for future success.”

Proximity Learning’s method of synchronous, virtual teaching allows students to interact with teachers in a way that emulates the traditional classroom experience, creating an ideal environment for students to learn digitally.
