Here are some findings:
-
Georgia has the lowest ratio of caregivers to residents in the entire country, with only 7.1 caregivers for every 100,000 residents.
-
Louisiana is facing the overall worst caregiver conditions, in part due to having the nation's lowest average hourly pay of $10.60.
-
New York state is the best prepared, offering almost 30 caregivers for every 1,000 residents.
-
20 million seniors and people with disabilities require long-term support and most prefer to be at home.
-
Approximately 800,000 older Americans needing subsidized care are on waiting lists because of the lack of available care workers.
