Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation Announces the 2022 Teacher of the Year Honorees

The Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation (MEEF) announced 52 Muscogee County  School District Teacher of the Year (TOTY) Honorees today, January 26, 2022, at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. 

The MEEF Board of Directors recognized teachers who have devoted themselves to  excellence in the classroom. “We are excited to be able to recognize and reward these  Teacher of the Year honorees. Now, more than ever, we need to honor our exceptional  teachers, who are making a life-changing impact every day in their classroom.” said MEEF  Chair Scott Allen. 

These remarkable teachers, selected by their individual schools, will be acknowledged in a  variety of ways throughout the year, beginning with this announcement, breakfast with the  National Teacher of the Year on March 3rd, and culminating with the Teacher of the Year Gala  on Thursday, May 5th at the Trade Center. 

At the Gala, business and community supporters of excellence in education, gather to  celebrate and honor some of the most talented and respected teachers of MCSD. The 2022 MCSD Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Gala to an expected crowd of over 1,100 public education supporters. Tickets to the Gala can be purchased at RiverCenter’s Box Office  starting March 23rd for $50 each. 

MEEF’S 2022 TOTY Selection Committee members are Dr. Tom Hackett-Chair, Carl Brown, Josh Reynolds, Donovan Granville, Len Williams, Donna Kemp, Sheryl Green, Dacia  Sheffield, Shane Larkin, and Marquette McKnight. 

MEEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering educational excellence by focusing  on individual teachers who are innovative and exceptionally effective in their profession. The  Foundation has awarded over $2.9 million to innovative teachers through financial incentives  in the TOTY program, the MEEF Grant program, MEEF Endowment Fund, and the Harvard  Fellows Program.
