Thursday, January 27th, 2022
The Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation (MEEF) announced 52 Muscogee County School District Teacher of the Year (TOTY) Honorees today, January 26, 2022, at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.
The MEEF Board of Directors recognized teachers who have devoted themselves to excellence in the classroom. “We are excited to be able to recognize and reward these Teacher of the Year honorees. Now, more than ever, we need to honor our exceptional teachers, who are making a life-changing impact every day in their classroom.” said MEEF Chair Scott Allen.
These remarkable teachers, selected by their individual schools, will be acknowledged in a variety of ways throughout the year, beginning with this announcement, breakfast with the National Teacher of the Year on March 3rd, and culminating with the Teacher of the Year Gala on Thursday, May 5th at the Trade Center.
At the Gala, business and community supporters of excellence in education, gather to celebrate and honor some of the most talented and respected teachers of MCSD. The 2022 MCSD Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Gala to an expected crowd of over 1,100 public education supporters. Tickets to the Gala can be purchased at RiverCenter’s Box Office starting March 23rd for $50 each.
MEEF’S 2022 TOTY Selection Committee members are Dr. Tom Hackett-Chair, Carl Brown, Josh Reynolds, Donovan Granville, Len Williams, Donna Kemp, Sheryl Green, Dacia Sheffield, Shane Larkin, and Marquette McKnight.
MEEF is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering educational excellence by focusing on individual teachers who are innovative and exceptionally effective in their profession. The Foundation has awarded over $2.9 million to innovative teachers through financial incentives in the TOTY program, the MEEF Grant program, MEEF Endowment Fund, and the Harvard Fellows Program.
