Ambulance Crew Named First Friday Heroes

Monday, March 7th, 2022

Piedmont Columbus Regional has named Logan Williamson and Kathryn Conner with Community Ambulancethe organization’s First Friday Heroes for the month of March.

Williamson and Conner responded to a call where a 3-year-old was suffering from a gunshot wound. They performed extreme measures in an attempt to stabilize the patient for transport to Piedmont Columbus Regional’s Emergency Trauma Center. Once at the hospital, Williamson and Conner stayed to assist staff in treating the patient. Unfortunately, the child passed away as a result of their injuries. After facing an unspeakable tragedy, Williamson and Conner composed themselves and went back out in the field to finish their shift. Additionally, we’d like to thank firefighters Nay Delgado, Dawson Williamson, and Caleb McLeod from Columbus Fire and EMS Station 11 for their assistance with this tragic situation.

A ceremony with Williamson, Conner, the crew from Station 11, and hospital leadership will be held at a later date to commend them for their response. Their story is also featured throughout the hospital on commemorative posters and Piedmont Columbus Regional’s social media pages.

Piedmont Columbus Regional created the First Friday Hero program in mid-2016 to recognize first responders each month who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Their line of work is often a thankless job and we want to make the community aware of our local heroes and all they do to make Columbus a better and safer place.
