In an effort to acknowledge the vital role our medical staff members play in the success of Piedmont Columbus Regional, a yearly Physician Recognition Award Program was established in 2014. The annual reception was held at the Country Club of Columbus on Thursday, May 12.

The program recognizes a physician of the year in the categories of leadership, clinical care and teaching.

“Congratulations to the physicians recognized and thank you to our entire medical staff for your tireless efforts over the last unprecedented two years in healthcare. I am so proud to have the opportunity to highlight and recognize our physicians for making a positive difference in every life they touch,” said Scott Hill, CEO of Piedmont Columbus Regional.

Below are the award winners for 2022:
Howard S. Weldon, Jr. Excellence in Physician Leadership Award- Christopher Edwards, M.D.
Excellence in Teaching- Janine Burgher-Jones, M.D.
Excellence in Clinical Care, Midtown Campus- Peter Jiang, M.D.
Excellence in Clinical Care, Northside Campus- Kurt Jacobson, M.D.

Additionally, the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation recognized twenty physicians for making a positive difference as part of the 2021 & 2022 Honored Society. The Honored Society recognizes physicians who have had patients make contributions to the Piedmont Columbus Regional Foundation in their honor.
