The Basics Chattahoochee Valley celebrated their third birthday by hosting a screening of No Small Matter, a documentary which focuses on the critical importance of high-quality early childhood education and a panel discussion of experts in this area.

The event was hosted by Ben Moser, President & CEO of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, and Helena Coates, Chair Columbus 2025 Birth to Pre-K Committee. They discussed why the story of early education is important to them and their work in our community.

“We know the first three years of life are critical as eighty percent of brain growth happens during this time,” said Ben Moser, President & CEO of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley. “By promoting The Basics’ fun and simple principles, we can ensure that all children can start school ready to learn. Our collaboration on this initiative is integral to addressing educational equity and advocating for child well-being.”

The panel discussed topics of challenges faced by early childhood educators, needs and opportunities in early childhood education, the effects of mental health on families, workforce readiness, and other topics.
