Columbus Botanical Garden to Begin Charging Admission for Non-Members
Thursday, May 26th, 2022
For the first time in its 23-year history, the Columbus Botanical Garden will begin charging an admission fee to visitors beginning July 1st, 2022. As a private 501c3 nonprofit, the garden does not receive funding from the city, state, or federal government and relies heavily upon private donations, annual memberships, fundraising events, grants, partnerships, and volunteers to maintain operations.
The popular Columbus Botanical Garden has always suggested a donation to enter. The Garden has determined that an admission fee of $10.00 per person for non-members is necessary to continue to grow and meet the long-term needs of the garden. Additionally, the admission fee will support The Garden to offer more in their partnerships with other community organizations. In 2021, the Columbus Botanical Garden was able to donate over 680 pounds of fresh vegetables in their partnership with #NourishColumbus to help solve food insecurity in the community.
The Columbus Botanical Garden will continue to provide the local community a more advantageous offer through annual memberships starting as low as $50.00. As a member of The Garden, you are eligible for exclusive reciprocal benefits at over 345 botanical gardens, conservatories, and arboreta throughout North America, as well as access to our newsletter, event happenings and invitations to our members only events. Additionally, Columbus Botanical Garden is a member of Museums for All, which allows The Garden to offer a reduced rate of $3.00 to SNAP EBT card holders.
“As we continue to grow within the community,” explained Adriana Quinones, Columbus Botanical Garden Executive Director, “we need to advance to the next level to further the operations of the garden. We understand that updating our admission structure will be a change for our valued visitors and we appreciate their enduring patience and support. Columbus Botanical Garden remains committed to serving our mission to the community and the addition of this necessary revenue stream will allow us to continue our dedication to improve our programs and education for the benefit of all patrons.”
The Columbus Botanical Garden celebrates the beauty, inspiration and wonder of the natural world, educating current and future stewards of its care.
