Through our Community Schools United strategy, United Way participated in the National Walk to School Day along with our partners at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. United Way is committed to walking alongside students, families, and educators, overcoming barriers together. We will continue working with our community to build awareness and share resources in the Chattahoochee Valley that enable students to come to school ready to learn each day.

“By showing up for our students and families, we are able to build relationships and trust. When we walk alongside children and families, we get to uncover firsthand what some of the true needs are in our community,” said Pam Romero, Vice President of Community Schools United. “United Way is committed to advocating for our children and families because our neighborhoods deserve support, resources, and peace of mind that children who walk are making it to school safely each day. We are dedicated to uniting the community and taking action towards building safer walking conditions for people of all ages.” she added.

United Way’s Community Schools United team plans to continue the Walk to School events to further build relationships and continue to raise awareness of community issues
