Chattahoochee Valley Community College Honor Members of the CVCC Family Who Have Earned the Title of “American Veteran”

Staff Report

Thursday, November 17th, 2022

Chattahoochee Valley Community College honored generations of patriots who have earned the title of “American Veteran,” a badge of courage that bonds the finest group of former service members the world has ever known. CSM (Ret) James P. Daniels, a thirty-two-year veteran, addressed the large group of veterans and veterans’ families and friends and spoke about the selfless sacrifice that members of the Armed Forces forged to defend the very idea of America — “a promise of freedom and equality, democracy and justice, possibility and hope.”

CVCC administrators, faculty, and staff annually recognize and honor students, employees and family members who are veterans. College employees acknowledge that veterans deserve our thanks, but more than that, “we owe them our freedom.” According to Associate Dean of Student Success and Development, Vickie Williams, “There is no way to express the depth of our gratitude to our veterans for everything they sacrifice for our freedom; but, CVCC had to try.”

Thus, on Thursday, November 10, 2022 honor and appreciation were extended to veterans of all ages, all wars, and all battles, who loved their country enough to join the military. There were no words of gratitude to thank them for what they did. Associate Dean Williams shared, “Unquestionably, our pledge to them is that we will forever respect and honor them, starting by making sure all our veterans’ programs are what they deserve. Maybe today each one of us can make sure we let at least one veteran know how grateful we are. Maybe by attending a parade, or flying the American flag, making a phone call, or writing a note.  We owe them an incredible debt that can never be fully repaid.”
