Investigator Named First Friday Hero
Tuesday, November 8th, 2022
Piedmont Columbus Regional has named Kiyanna Johnson with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office the organization’s First Friday Hero for the month of November.
Corporal/Investigator Kiyanna Johnson saved two children from a fiery truck on Highway 96 in Talbot County. Johnson was doing a routine patrol when she received information about a wreck on Highway 96/Butler Highway. Johnson arrived at the scene and found a truck flipped over and on fire. The driver died as a result of his injuries, but Johnson assisted in saving a 6-year-old and 1-year-old from the burning truck. Without Corporal/Investigator Johnson’s persistent proactive patrols, this could’ve easily been a major fatality event.
A ceremony with her and hospital leadership will be held at a later date to commend Corporal Johnson for her response. Her story is also featured throughout the hospital on commemorative posters and Piedmont Columbus Regional’s social media pages.
Piedmont Columbus Regional created the First Friday Hero program in mid-2016 to recognize first responders each month who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Their line of work is often a thankless job and we want to make the community aware of our local heroes and all they do to make Columbus a better and safer place.
