This week, March 14-15, VisitColumbusGA, the city’s official tourism office, along with city leadership, will host the highest level of tourism officials in the state.

“It is our honor to host the Georgia Tourism Foundation Board. Whenever we can get these dignitaries here to see what great things are happening in Columbus, it propels our city forward as a destination and helps to get our story out in the world,” said Peter Bowden, President-CEO of VisitColumbusGA. “Additionally, we continue to work with ExploreGeorgia, the state’s tourism office, in its program of work focused on growing the meeting and convention market statewide. The goal is always to draw visitors – which translates to economic development – for our fair city.”

Bowden credits Mat Swift, who serves on the Georgia Tourism Foundation Board and is retired from the Real Estate Division of the W.C. Bradley Co. where he served as President and COO, with doing the heavy lifting in campaigning for the Board to commit to have this meeting in Columbus and for making the itinerary a reality.

Wednesday, March 15
Attendees will participate in a variety of activities offered by Mat Swift and the Columbus community.

“We have so much to offer visitors in Columbus. Unique and special things. We can’t just do great things and wait for people to stumble upon them. We have to tell people, show people and help them showcase our dynamic and ever-changing offerings,” Bowden shared. “People are doing great things here. It shows by great media coverage and by seeing people exploring our city. And, when visitors spend money, they support our local business owners and leave behind tax dollars for the benefit of all our citizens.”
