Tuesday, April 25th, 2023
Former Baltimore Ravens and University of Georgia tight end Bruce Figgins is joining the St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School family as a middle school assistant, middle school football coach, and assistant high school football coach. Figgins' first day of work is today, April 24, 2023.
After graduating from Shaw High School, Figgins went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from the University of Georgia in 2011. He’s currently pursuing a master’s degree in Special Education from Piedmont University. Prior to coming to St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School, Figgins has served professionally as a high school Health teacher, paraprofessional, and community school coordinator.
Following a successful career as a football player for the University of Georgia, the Baltimore Ravens and the New Orleans Voodoo, an arena football team, Figgins started coaching the sport he loves in 2013 in Louisiana. Since then, he’s been an assistant coach for both high school and college teams in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
“I’m looking forward to working with middle and high school students at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School,” said Figgins. “This is a wonderful opportunity for me to share my time and talents with these young students who aspire to do great things.”
“Figgins’ experience in the classroom and on the field will be a huge benefit for our students,” said Corry Black, St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School Athletic Director. “It is a blessing to have him join our Viking family!”
Figgins and his wife, Lagi, have two children: 5-year-old Boyce Willie Figgins and 2-year-old Blakely Tua Figgins.
There will be an interest meeting for current 5th, 6th and 7th graders who would like to be a part of our Middle School Vikings Football Team, and their parents, on May 16th at 7 p.m. in our Auditorium. Questions? Email Coach Bruce Figgins - [email protected].
