2023 Senate Occupational Licensing Study Committee Announced
Wednesday, May 24th, 2023
Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones announced legislative appointments to the Senate Occupational Licensing Study Committee.
“This study committee will take a comprehensive look at occupational licensing across Georgia’s industries,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “The appointees will review current regulatory requirements and consider potential barriers, such as fees, for citizens willing to work in a variety of occupations. Antiquated requirements that can be removed, without impacting one’s ability to perform their job or public safety, must be addressed. Any positive changes we can make to ease burdens for those wishing to work in our state are critical, and I look forward to this committees’ work.”
The study committee was established by the passage of Senate Resolution 85 during the 2023 session. The following members will serve on the five member committee:
-
Senator Larry Walker (R – Perry) – Chairman of the Study Committee
-
Senator Jason Anavitarte (R – Dallas)
-
Senator Mike Dugan (R – Carrollton)
-
Senator Sonya Halpern (D – Atlanta)
-
Senator Brian Strickland (R – McDonough)
Study Committee members will hold meetings throughout the state. Dates and locations will be announced at a later date.
