Georgia Senate Study Committee on CON Reform to Hold Second Meeting in Columbus

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023

On August 28, 2023, the Senate Study Committee on Certificate of Need (CON) Reform, chaired by Senator Greg Dolezal (R – Cumming), will hold its second meeting at The Hughston Foundation in Columbus, Georgia. The committee’s primary goal is to explore health system regulations implemented in other states, seeking innovative solutions that enhance access to medical care for all Georgians.

“The first meeting we held was highly beneficial and one of the major takeaways was the glaring lack of information on the efficacy of CON programs nationwide,” stated Chairman Dolezal. “This overall lack of data is why it is so important to continue an open dialogue about this issue. I am excited to have our second meeting in Columbus, where we can gain fresh perspectives from a different region of the state. However, to obtain the necessary information, we need local community leaders, experts and constituents to share their experiences with CON regulations. If you wish to contribute your thoughts on this matter, don’t hesitate to contact my office.”

Local community members are encouraged to participate and testify at the meeting, providing valuable testimony that will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in Georgia. Individuals interested in providing testimony should reach out to Chairman Dolezal’s office at (404) 656-0040 or by email at [email protected].
