Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) Holds Annual Chris Patterson Track or Treat 5K
Thursday, October 26th, 2023
In the spirit of Halloween, Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) proudly hosted the 13th Annual Chris Patterson Track or Treat 5K on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Phenix City Amphitheater. This event marked an exciting blend of fitness and fun for the 128 runners and walkers who participated.
Track or Treat is a 5K run held in memory of Chris Patterson, a highly respected and beloved student advisor at CVCC who passed away in 2009. Patterson had a passion for students, a love for running, and an amusement for great costumes. All participants are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes. All race proceeds benefit the Chris Patterson Student Support Fund at CVCC, designed to help CVCC students remove any barriers keeping them from completing their education. The funds have assisted students in many ways, including helping a single mother pay for daycare, transportation to campus, or books and supplies not covered by financial aid. The fund attempts to remove barriers that could cause an otherwise successful student to drop out of college.
“The Chris Patterson Track or Treat 5K has not only been a fantastic and fun Halloween event but a tremendous success in bolstering our Student Success Fund,” said Institutional Advancement Coordinator David Fletcher. “This event truly exemplifies the power of collective efforts in creating opportunities for success, and we are deeply grateful to all who participated and contributed to this remarkable achievement."
