GMA's 2024 Broadband Summit Happening July 16th

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, July 1st, 2024

There is an unprecedented opportunity available this year for Georgia cities: $1.3 billion in federal funding is available through the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment or “BEAD” program to build out broadband infrastructure. Furthermore, Georgia has been allocated $22.45 million for programs to help communities and residents build the skills, technology and capacity needed to take full advantage of the digital economy.

The Georgia Technology Authority is expected to open competitive grant applications for these pots of funding this fall. To help cities take advantage of these historic levels of funding, GMA will be hosting the 5th Annual Broadband Summit on July 16th in Warner Robins. Register today: https://www.gacities.com/What-We-Do/Advocacy/Federal-Issue/GMA-Broadband.aspx.

Our event will feature city and county officials who have participated in successful broadband partnerships and can share lessons learned and good practices. We will also have speakers from the Georgia Technology Authority, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Regional Commissions and the US Department of Agriculture.
