Monday, April 14th, 2025
AI’s Role in Transforming Education: A Journey to Understanding is an exciting and upcoming VIRTUAL continued education unit (CEU) that will explore AI’s impact on learning.
The Darton Foundation, in collaboration with Albany State University, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for their newest virtual Continued Education Unit (CEU) opportunity for educators, administrators, parents, and AI enthusiasts. The session, titled AI’s Role in Transforming Education: A Journey to Understanding, will dive into the evolving role of artificial intelligence in classrooms and learning environments.
“This session is a must-attend for anyone looking to implement artificial intelligence or just stay ahead in the education sector,” says Dr. Sarah Brinson, Darton Foundation board member and Dean of the Darton College of Health Professions at ASU. “AI is not just a tool of the future; it’s shaping classrooms today, and understanding its potential and challenges is essential for educators, students, and parents.”
Keynote speaker, Vicki Davis, a 23-plus year teaching veteran, will unpack new AI developments in the education sector. Attendees will receive the latest updates on large language models (LLMs) and AI applications, including privacy concerns and the newest emerging AI engines. Live demonstrations will showcase AI’s practical applications, while interactive discussions will address ethical concerns, academic integrity, and liability risks.
“AI can be an incredible asset in education, if we use it wisely,” says Vicki Davis, an expert in AI and pedagogy. “This session will help educators balance efficiency, the realities of teaching today's students with ethical responsibility. We need to teach our students the questions to ask about new technology and how to live healthy lives as they use it appropriately.”
The session will explore balancing practicality and ethics, policy, and classroom integration. Educators will be introduced to AI policy templates and effective tools that enhance various learning fields. AI’s role in project-based learning, interpersonal skills development, and classroom efficiency will also be presented.
“Teachers should feel empowered, not intimidated and educational organizations need to develop and implement sound policies for AI use by their staff and students,” added Randae Davis, Executive Director of the Darton Foundation. “AI is here to support educators, not replace them, and there are implications for its use that students and parents need to understand.”
The session will feature real-world applications, including AI-assisted writing, art generation, coding education, and automated grading. These practical demonstrations will showcase how AI can streamline workflows and boost accessibility and productivity.
A forward-looking discussion will explore upcoming AI technologies, including AI agents, augmented reality, and companion technology and their influence on learning and the healthcare and business sectors. The CEU will conclude with strategies to help educators stay informed, engage in ethical discussions, and experiment with AI-driven projects in their classrooms.
“This session isn’t just learning about AI,” says Dr. Brinson “It’s about shaping the future of education with knowledge, responsibility, and innovation.”
This eye-opening virtual CEU will be held on April 29, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore AI’s growing influence in education.
