Columbus Sees Job Growth in February, Unemployment Rate at 4.3%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Columbus recorded an unemployment rate of 4.3 percent in February, unchanged from the previous month. A year ago, the rate was 3.9 percent.
“Jobs are growing, and so is Georgia’s future," said GDOL Interim Successor Louis DeBroux. "With regional job growth across Georgia in February and the state's unemployment rate holding steady at 3.6%—well below the national average—Georgia continues to prove itself as the #1 place where businesses and talent thrive."
The labor force decreased in Columbus by 588 and ended the month with 128,433. That number went down by 510 when compared to February of 2024.
Columbus finished the month with 122,970 employed residents. That number decreased by 477 over-the-month and was down by 977 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Columbus ended February with 122,100 jobs. Job numbers were up 700 from January to February and rose by 400 when compared to this time last year.
In February, initial unemployment claims decreased by 1,101 over-the-month and were up by 15 when compared to the same month last year, totaling 432.
