RiverCenter to Host Hard Hat Silent Film Event
Wednesday, April 16th, 2025
RiverCenter is proud to host a special appreciation event for the hardworking crews building the new Columbus Consolidated Government Judicial Center. On Friday, May 2, 2025, downtown partners and community members are invited to a lighthearted midday celebration—the Hard Hat Silent Film Event, featuring Buster Keaton’s classic comedy One Week.
The event, free and open to all, is RiverCenter’s way of saying thank you to the individuals whose dedication and expertise are helping shape one of the city's most important civic projects. It’s an opportunity to honor their contributions with music and laughter.
Doors open at 11:15 a.m. for the 11:30 a.m. showing of One Week, a 1920 silent film comedy starring the legendary Buster Keaton. The film tells the story of newlyweds attempting to build a prefab house—only to discover the numbered crates have been mischievously rearranged. Chaos, ingenuity, and Keaton’s signature deadpan humor ensue.
Adding to the charm of this throwback experience, the film will be accompanied live by Ron Carter on The WAVE Theatre Organ, bringing the silent era to life in real time. Following the 20-minute screening, guests are invited to participate in a group photo at 11:55 a.m., after which a complimentary hot dog lunch will be served, generously sponsored by Gilbane Construction, the firm leading work on the new Judicial Center.
No tickets are required to attend, and guests are encouraged to share this invitation with colleagues and friends who may wish to recognize and celebrate the hard work of these construction professionals.
This event is a small but meaningful way to show appreciation for the outstanding stewardship these workers have shown the Columbus community in their work on the Judicial Center project.
