On Monday, December 1, Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) welcomed Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker to campus, where he announced the appointment of Annette Funderburk as the College’s Interim President.

The announcement follows the retirement of President Jackie Screws, who concluded 38 years of service to the ACCS and eight years of leadership at CVCC. Baker expressed appreciation for her steady guidance and commitment to students, noting that her contributions will continue to benefit the College for years to come.

Funderburk brings extensive experience from across the ACCS. Since 2018, she has served as President of J.F. Ingram State Technical College, leading statewide career and technical education, Adult Education/GED programming, and workforce training for individuals in correctional facilities. Her work included overseeing 19 instructional programs, strengthening business and industry partnerships, securing state and federal funding, and directing long-range institutional planning.

Prior to leading Ingram State, she held key positions with the ACCS, including Interim President, Director of External Affairs, and Workforce and Governmental Affairs Officer. In these roles, she worked closely with the Alabama Legislature, the Governor’s Office, and state agencies to advance System priorities and support workforce development initiatives. Funderburk holds a Master of Public Administration from Troy University and is a Certified County Administrator.

“Annette Funderburk brings deep experience and strong statewide relationships to this role,” Baker said. “She is well-prepared to guide CVCC during this transition.”

Funderburk shared her enthusiasm for joining the CVCC community. “It is a privilege to serve this College,” she said. “CVCC is moving forward with exciting momentum, and I look forward to working with its dedicated faculty and staff.”

President Screws offered her gratitude and confidence in the College’s future, noting that CVCC is “well-positioned for continued growth and progress.”
