Columbus Airport to Host Ribbon Cutting Mixer Friday

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025

Columbus Airport (CSG) is pleased to announce the official ribbon cutting ceremony for its newly reconstructed primary commercial runway, Runway 6-24. After months of major reconstruction work that began following the groundbreaking ceremony in August, the runway reopened on Friday, November 28, 2025.

To celebrate this significant milestone, Columbus Airport will host a ribbon cutting mixer on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. on the second floor of the main terminal for a community reception featuring light hors d’oeuvres and beverages. This event is open to the public.

“Reopening Runway 6-24 marks a major step forward for Columbus Airport and the region we serve,” said Airport Director Amber Clark. “This project strengthens our infrastructure, supports future growth, and enhances the safety and reliability of our airfield for years to come.”

Brief remarks will be delivered by Commission Chairman James Barker, Airport Director Amber Clark and local community leaders.

Runway 6-24’s reconstruction represents one of the largest airfield improvement projects in Columbus Airport’s recent history. The upgrade ensures long-term operational resilience, improved pavement life, and continued support for commercial airline service, military operations, and general aviation activity.
