Thursday, March 19th, 2026
Columbus Fire and EMS has opened a new fire station in the Midland area on Lynch Road, officials announced at a grand opening ceremony.
New station serves growing area
Station 5 will serve schools, locally owned businesses, and residents in the Midland area. Officials said the station could also lower home insurance costs for nearby residents.
Fire and EMS Chief Sal Scarpa spoke at the ceremony about the need for resources in the area.
“This is an area of great growth in Columbus — so it’s important that we have resources that are here and can manage that growth,” Scarpa said. “And we want to be able to support that and have the resources right here.”
