New Columbus 30‑bed Behavioral Unit Aims to Reduce Jail Backlog

State officials have opened a new “Operation New Hope” unit in Columbus, expanding Georgia’s effort to help individuals transition out of forensic units and reduce jail waitlists.
The 30‑bed program is located at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital on Schatulga Road.
