Piedmont Columbus Regional Matches with New Family Medicine and Pharmacy Residents

Piedmont Columbus Regional will add 13 doctors and nine pharmacists to its roster this summer as a result of Match Day.

The new Family Medicine residents who will join Piedmont Columbus on July 1 are:

  • Anuradha Kandasamy, M.D., Scottsdale, Az.
  • Mahim Khalid, M.D., Corona, Ca.
  • Hannah Kim, D.O., Opelika, Ala.
  • Rafia Lodhi, M.D., Atlanta, Ga.
  • Sherylove Pammit, M.D., Suwanee, Ga.
  • Bhuvana Potini, M.D., Amherst, Ny.
  • Sina Safamanesh, M.D., Columbia, Mo.
  • Mehwish Safdar, M.D., Overland Park, Ks.

“I am excited these new residents will be coming to Columbus to continue their medical training,” said Director of Medical Education and Family Medicine Residency Program John Bucholtz, D.O. “We are pleased to provide the foundation for a successful career as a practicing physician while continuing to fulfill Piedmont’s mission of providing high-quality care to our community.”

Family Medicine residents enjoy the support of all major medical specialties while providing patient care during the three-year program. Core clinical rotations include Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics.

With those onboarding this summer, Piedmont Columbus Regional will employ 37 medical residents. When established in 1972, the Family Medicine Residency Programat Piedmont Columbus Midtown became the first of its kind in Georgia and one of the first in the Southeastern United States. More than 1,000 physicians have graduated from Piedmont Columbus Midtown going back to physician training that began in the 1940s.

The new Pharmacy residents who will join Piedmont Columbus on June 22 are:

  • Courtney Steward, PharmD, Florida A&M

  • Shannon Woods, PharmD, Auburn
  • Shelby Barron, PharmD, second year resident- Ambulatory Care track
  • Erin Schuld, PharmD, second year resident- Critical Care track

“Through patient care, practice management, research and other training segments, Piedmont’s Pharmacy Residency Program instills a philosophy of practice that embraces pharmacists being responsible and accountable for optimum drug therapy outcomes,” said PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program Director Jamie Crossman, PharmD.

In the 12-month program, residents will complete core rotations in the areas of Ambulatory Care, Central Distribution, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Pediatrics/Neonatology, Practice Management and Transitional Care.
