A Goodwill training program in west central Georgia is helping people launch construction careers in 20 days with no experience required, and graduates can start earning up to $19 an hour.

The Construction Ready program offers free intensive training for anyone looking to break into the construction industry. The program addresses a skilled labor shortage in the construction field by providing local residents with the knowledge needed to enter the industry.

Anyone can apply for the program at no cost. Students must be 18 or older, pass a drug screen and perform at an eighth-grade reading and math level. In return, they earn eight industry-recognized certifications.
