A staple of the Columbus dessert scene for more than a decade is preparing for a major transition. The franchise owner of Gigi’s Cupcakes, located in The Landings shopping center on Airport Thruway, recently announced via social media that they have made the difficult decision to put their bakery space up for sale.

The business opened its doors in August 2012. After nearly 14 years of serving the community, owner Patrick Cooper and his family cited a devastating personal loss as the catalyst for the change. Last fall, Patrick’s wife and co-owner, Jennifer Cooper, was killed in a tragic crash involving a school bus in Auburn, an event the family says brought “unexpected changes” to their lives.
