Columbus Leaders Consider 9 P.M. Curfew for Teens in Uptown
Friday, May 29th, 2026
Columbus leaders are discussing a potential 9 p.m. curfew for teens this summer as police say groups of unruly teens in Uptown are forcing some businesses to close early.
According to the ordinance proposal, Columbus police have made more than 300 arrests in recent years after evening incidents involving unsupervised minors. The curfew was a major topic at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
“Uptown is very vibrant, we’re very compact, we’re very compressed down there. And when you put two, three, four hundred kids unsupervised in uptown, we’ve got an issue,” said Steve Morse, president and CEO of Uptown Columbus.
Morse said the measure is a proactive public safety step.
