Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, May 19th, 2026

Growing Room Child Development Centers will officially celebrate the
grand opening and ribbon cutting of its newest early learning center on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM at 1600 1st Avenue in Uptown Columbus and The Mill District.

The new center, located in the former TSYS/FIS childcare facility, marks a significant investment in expanding access to high-quality childcare and early childhood education for working families in the Columbus community.

Community leaders, elected officials, business partners, nonprofit organizations, and supporters from across the region have been invited to attend the celebration, which will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, guided tours of the facility, and light refreshments.

“This center represents so much more than a new location,” said Brittany Haines, CEO of Growing Room Child Development Centers. “It represents what is possible when public, private, and nonprofit partners come together with a shared commitment to supporting children, families, workforce development, and the future of our community.”

Growing Room is a locally owned, family-operated business that has served children and families in the Chattahoochee Valley for nearly four decades. With this new location, Growing Room now operates four locations in Columbus, continuing its mission of providing high-quality early childhood education and care throughout the community.

This new location will provide childcare and early learning opportunities for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old, including Georgia Pre-K, summer camp, and after-school programming.

The center features modern educational classrooms, indoor play spaces, a large outdoor playground, and a splash pad designed for summer water play activities.

The project was made possible through collaboration and partnerships with community stakeholders, including FIS, The Mill District, Inc., local business leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community advocates committed to strengthening access to childcare in the area.

Growing Room leaders also hope the center will serve as a resource for nearby employers seeking childcare solutions for their workforce, helping support employee recruitment, retention, and family stability.

“Locally Owned. Family Operated. Trusted for Generations.” has long reflected the heart of Growing Room’s mission and commitment to the families it serves.

The event is open to invited guests and media representatives.
