Tariffs Squeeze Columbus Businesses and Customers

Small businesses in the Chattahoochee Valley are feeling the effects of a 50% U.S. tariff on Canadian imports, which covers roughly $20 billion in goods. Canada has vowed to retaliate with its own tariffs on U.S. goods.
One local business feeling the impact is a Columbus flower shop.
Small increases add up
Hazel Thomas has owned her floral business for 37 years. She said tariffs are affecting the floral industry because the cost of flowers is going up.
“The tariffs are really hurting the floral industry because we have to go up on the flowers that we get,” Thomas said.
