City Manager Tyson Begly has selected Edward Allen Minton to fill the position of Director of the newly created Facilities Maintenance Department.  City Manager Tyson Begly will go before Columbus Council for approval of his appointment on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the next scheduled business 
meeting of the Council.  

Allen Minton has served CCG in the Facilities Maintenance Division since June 2023 and became the Interim Director December 2025.  He has over 20 years of experience in facility maintenance and building management.  He has a proven record of successfully overseeing sub-contractors, work crews and various building trades throughout his career.  He worked closely with the late Johnny Harp to learn the intricacies of our more than 600 facilities, statuaries, statues, restrooms, concession stands, etc.  He works hand in hand with our CCG Project Manager on all new facilities to include the Judicial Center; Synovus Park; Newly Renovated Sheriff’s Office; New Pools, Splash Pads, Newly Renovated City Hall, Jail, MCP as well as our current older buildings.    

Allen’s knowledge, background and experience in Facility Maintenance and Building Management provides for a good transition as CCG’s first Director of Facilities Maintenance. He comes highly recommended by my selection committee of Deputy City Manager’s Lisa Goodwin and Pam Hodge, Finance Director Angelica Alexander, and Human Resources Director Ola Terrell.

Allen was born and raised in Columbus, Ga. and currently resides in Columbus, Ga.  He is a graduate of Columbus State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  He has been married 
to Brandy Minton for 10 years.  They have 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
