Chattahoochee Valley Community College has been awarded $612,455 in
workforce development grants to support programs and initiatives designed to prepare students for high-demand careers and strengthen the regional workforce.

The grants were announced last week during the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees meeting and will support five CVCC initiatives, including Medical Laboratory Technology, Practical Nursing, career and student success services, and supply chain, logistics and transportation programs.

CVCC President Annette Funderburk said the awards reflect the hard work and dedication of faculty and staff who worked to secure resources that will expand opportunities for students and address workforce needs throughout the region.

“I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff in securing these grants,” Funderburk said. “These funds represent a significant investment in our students, our programs, and the communities we serve. They will allow CVCC to expand educational opportunities, strengthen workforce partnerships and provide students with the skills and resources they need to succeed in high-demand careers.”

The grant awards include:

• Medical Laboratory Student Lab Equipment — $48,715: Funding will be used to purchase instructional equipment supporting CVCC’s Medical Laboratory Technology program.
• CVCC LPN Program — $213,740: Funding will support the Practical Nursing program and help expand capacity through partnerships with area high schools and create pathways for students to pursue nursing education.
• Career Coordinator — $85,000: Funding will support the Career Coordinator initiative and efforts to connect students with career opportunities.
• Success Coach — $85,000: Funding will support the Success Coach initiative and efforts to help students achieve their educational and career goals.
• Pathways to Progress: Building Careers to Supply Chain, Logistics & Transportation — $180,000: Funding will support workforce education and training in supply chain, logistics and transportation.

“These grants allow us to continue responding directly to the needs of our region,” Funderburk said. “When we invest in workforce education, we are investing not only in our students but also in the economic strength and future of the Chattahoochee Valley.”

CVCC works closely with business, industry, health care organizations, and community partners to develop education and training opportunities aligned with workforce needs throughout the
region.
