Columbus Consolidated Government Announces Ribbon Cutting for Renewable Natural Gas Facility at Pinegrove Landfill
Friday, October 30th, 2026
The Columbus Consolidated Government, in partnership with The Landfill Group, is pleased to announce the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Facility located at the Pinegrove Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Landfill, 9000 Pinegrove Way, Columbus, Georgia.
This project represents a collaborative effort between the City of Columbus and The Landfill Group to advance environmental sustainability through the beneficial use of landfill gas. The Landfill Group conducted extensive methane testing to evaluate the landfill’s potential to support the facility’s construction and long-term operation.
Construction of the Methane Gas Extraction Plant is complete, and the facility is scheduled to become fully operational on Thursday, November 12, 2026. The facility will capture and process methane gas generated by the landfill, which will then be sold to outside users as a renewable energy source. This initiative supports the responsible management of landfill resources while promoting the beneficial reuse of methane gas.
To commemorate this partnership and the facility’s opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the facility located at Pinegrove MSW Landfill, 9000 Pinegrove Way, Columbus, Georgia.
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in guided tours of the RNG Facility and the landfill to learn more about the facility’s operations and its role in supporting environmental sustainability.
